Put Your Best Hands Forward

Treat yourself to smoother, younger-looking hands with hand rejuvenation

Earlier this year, the FDA approved the use of dermal filler, Restylane Lyft, for hand rejuvenation.

This is great news if you’re looking for smoother, younger-looking skin and the reduced appearance of wrinkles for your hands.

Other than our faces, our hands show the next most obvious signs of age. While sun damage can cause brown spots, the real culprit is volume loss. Over time, our skin thins, loses its elasticity and creates a hollow look between ligaments and prominent vein visibility.

Many patients who come into our office are so dissatisfied with the way their hands make them look older than they are! Thankfully, there’s something we can do about it.

We’ve been seeing incredible results among our patients lately, so we thought we’d share all about this treatment and the possibilities you may want to explore for yourself.

hand rejuvenation at the look before and afterIn addition to regular care, like using moisturizing hand lotion packed with vitamins and protective SPF, our special hand rejuvenation treatment with filler could make a tremendous difference in the appearance of your hands.

Let’s dive into what it’s all about.

Who Is It For?

Whether you’re a guy or a gal, if you’ve started noticing the ligaments in the back of your hand, especially with some hollowing between them, then this treatment is for you.

The skin on our hands is some of the thinnest of any part of the body. Plus, there’s little fat in that area, and it’s regularly subjected to the elements. Once that layer of fat is gone, your only option is to replace it.

Some treatments replace the fat with fat from other areas of your body. However, injected fillers don’t perform like fat transfers, which may not survive. While future treatments may be needed for touch up, injected fillers are much more controllable. As the saying goes, what you see is what you get.

How Does the Treatment Work?

First, we apply a numbing cream and let it soak in for about 10-15 minutes. You should experience minimal pain if any at all.

Next, we create three small needle sticks in the hand and use a cannula–a blunt-tipped tool–to inject a special blend of Restylane Lyft. With only a few small needle pricks, we can reach several areas of the hand to make sure it has an even, smooth appearance.

The cannula approach has proven to be the most successful–since we use so few needle sticks, there is significantly less bruising and swelling versus only using a needle for the filler. When it comes to this hand rejuvenation treatment, as well as our other dermal fillers, I can help you achieve your ultimate look and health for your skin.

What’s the Next Step?

There’s hardly any aftercare involved with this particular hand rejuvenation treatment, except that massage may be needed post treatment. Most patients describe minimal to no pain at all, though, and our use of the minimally invasive cannula means there’s little swelling or redness.

Your hands are responsible for some of life’s most precious moments, like greeting loved ones, serving special meals around the table at family gatherings–and let’s not forget how they showcase that bling! Let us help you make sure you’re putting your best hands forward, both now and for years to come.
