Dermal Fillers from The Look Medical Aesthetics in Franklin TN

Dermal Fillers

There is only so much a great skincare routine can do. You can use the best products on the market and still feel dissatisfied with their effect on your appearance. The loss of collagen and volume, repetitive facial movements, gravity and sun exposure work against your face’s natural shape and youthful look.

WHAT IS IT?

Dermal fillers are different from Botox/Dysport/Daxxify injections. Both help improve the appearance of wrinkles and give your face a more youthful, relaxed look, but fillers are designed to plump and smooth — not prevent the muscles from contracting.

HOW IT WORKS

Fillers can achieve two main goals:  add volume and plumpness and/or replenish volume or collagen that has been lost over time.
Here is where the art of injection is important: it matters where fillers are placed to achieve a natural look. Each filler has its own personality, meaning your injector should choose a certain filler based on how your skin and face are aging. The Look Master injectors will help in providing a customized filler solution to fit your skin and face concerns.

Preparations, Results & Recovery

Good preparation is key for dermal filler injections. Before a procedure, we recommend avoiding multivitamins and any other medications that fall into the category of blood thinners for 7-10 days prior to appointment.

Other tricks that may help with possible bruising and downtime are avoiding alcohol for 48 hours prior to procedure, adding pineapple to diet and/or taking Arnica tablets 5-7 days before treatment.

Results are immediate and can last anywhere between 6- 15 months. Depending on the number of areas being treated, dermal fillers take between 10-20 minutes to administer.

Down time of filler injections consist of swelling, possible bruising, and minor discomfort. Down time can last up to 2 weeks but normally resolves within a few days. Ice and antihistamines can help speed up the process. Avoid strenuous activity for 24 hours after your injections, as well as makeup to the treated area.

Combinations

Fillers can be used as part of a complete facial rejuvenation approach with other anti-aging treatments, like Botox, laser treatments, Latisse and quality skincare products.

Risks

There have been cases where fillers have been inadvertently placed in a blood vessel, which can cause major problems like skin death or even blindness. This is why it is vital to know who is injecting your dermal filler. It is important to go to someone who is injecting filler on a daily basis and has proper, in depth training in the administration and complications of dermal filler. Our Nurse Practitioner injectors solely do injections on a day-to-day basis.

Expertise

Knowing how to treat a complication is absolutely, without question, the most important aspect of injecting. Not only do the providers at The Look know how to avoid complications, they guide other providers on how to properly treat complications when they occur. Haley is seen nationally as a trainer, and she has extended that knowledge to her team at The Look.

Like with Botox, the needles are tiny, and injections come with minimal discomfort.
